Overview & Scope
DharmaPanchang ("we", "our", or "the App") is an authentic Hindu Calendar, Vedic Panchang, and Shubh Muhurat application developed by Katrex Technologies. The App provides accurate calculations for Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, Choghadiya, Rahu Kaal, Hindu festivals, and Vrat dates.
This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding user data, location handling for astronomical calculations, device permissions, and advertising integrations in full compliance with Google Play Developer Policies.
Information We Collect
DharmaPanchang is designed to prioritize user privacy by collecting minimal data necessary for core calendar operations:
- No User Registration or Account Required: You can use all core features of DharmaPanchang without creating an account, signing up, or providing your name, email, phone number, or address.
- User Preferences & Settings: App language, chosen city for Panchang calculations, and notification preferences saved locally on your device via Android SharedPreferences.
- Technical Diagnostics: Device model, operating system version, and anonymous crash telemetry used exclusively to maintain app stability and resolve bugs.
- Advertising Identifiers: Anonymous advertising IDs (such as Google Advertising ID) processed by Google AdMob for ad delivery and frequency capping.
Location Data & Solar Calculations
Vedic Panchang calculations—including Sunrise, Sunset, Moonrise, Moonset, Rahu Kaal, and Tithi start/end times—strictly depend on the user's geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude).
Optional Location Access: When permitted by the user, DharmaPanchang accesses approximate or precise device location solely to calculate accurate local solar and planetary timings.
Manual Location Option: Users can manually choose their city from a pre-built list without granting GPS permissions.
Zero Location Tracking: Geographic coordinates are processed locally on your device. We do NOT track your movement, create location profiles, or sell location data to third parties.
How We Use Information
Collected information is utilized strictly to provide and improve the DharmaPanchang experience:
- To calculate and display accurate local Vedic Panchang, Muhurat, and Choghadiya timings.
- To deliver timely notifications for daily Panchang updates, Ekadashi, Pradosh, Amavasya, Purnima, and major Hindu festivals.
- To serve relevant, non-intrusive advertisements via Google AdMob.
- To diagnose technical issues, optimize app performance, and release updates.
Advertising & Third-Party Services
DharmaPanchang integrates Google AdMob to display banner, interstitial, and app-open advertisements to support free access to the app.
Google AdMob and Google Play Services may collect and process device identifiers, IP addresses, and interaction metrics in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
Data Protection & Security
We implement robust technical measures to safeguard your information:
All network communications with external services (such as ad serving and calendar synchronizations) are encrypted using HTTPS (TLS 1.3).
App preferences and saved city data are stored inside Android's secure, sandboxed application directory.
Permissions Used
- ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION / ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (Optional): Used solely to automatically compute accurate local Sunrise, Sunset, and Vedic planetary timings based on your city.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Optional): Used to deliver daily Tithi notifications, festival reminders, and auspicious Muhurat alerts.
- INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required to fetch festival calendar updates and serve Google AdMob advertisements.
- No Sensitive Access: DharmaPanchang does NOT request or access your Camera, Microphone, Contacts, External Storage, or SMS.
Children's Privacy
DharmaPanchang is a general-audience cultural and calendar application. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
The App complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play Families Policies. Ad requests are configured appropriately for general audience categories.
Data Retention & Deletion
Saved city preferences and reminder configurations remain strictly on your physical device. You can clear all data at any time through Android Settings > Apps > DharmaPanchang > Clear Data.
Uninstalling DharmaPanchang permanently deletes all local data from your device.
